Soweto Gospel Choir
Heads up, music fans! The two-time Grammy award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir is coming to Akron. Directed by choirmaster David Mulovhedzi, this world-renowned choir is comprised of the best talent in and around Soweto, South Africa. Give them a listen on Wednesday, February 26th, 7:30pm at E.J. Thomas Hall.
Go Zips
If athletics are more your bag, you probably want to check out the Mid-American Conference women’s basketball game between the Zips and Miami University of Ohio. This home game is being played at UA’s James A. Rhodes Arena at 7pm on Wednesday, February 26th. Show the Zips some love!
Get Messy
Actually, we can’t guarantee that you’ll get messy but you are likely to have a lot of fun at Palladian Palette’s BYOB art studio. This hot spot offers tons of enjoyable art classes. On Thursday, February 27th, you can try your hand with clay. From 7-9pm, you’ll learn how to mold and pinch clay to form pears or another fruit of your choice. Reserve in advance so you don’t get left out!
For Home Improvement Lovers
Or gardeners, remodelers, and anyone who loves using their imagination to create beautiful interior spaces. Come visit the 20th annual HBA Akron Home and Garden Show. Running from February 28th until March 2nd, this show has over 200 exhibitors displaying home decorating, remodeling, building, landscaping, and gardening products and services. Over the weekend, Discovery Channel’s Dr. Lori will be back to offer her popular free antique appraisals to visitors. And for those who enjoy sampling locally crafted beer and wine, stop by the beer garden—a favorite among attendees.
Attention Jazz Aficionados
On Friday, February 28th, the Akron Civic Theatre presents Jazz @ The Civic in an intimate, cabaret-style setting. Cuban native Justo Saborit offers a distinctive sound, originating from his background performing in various styles such as classical, blues, jazz, rock, and R&B. Seating is limited so if you’re interested in attending, order your tickets today.
