With the frigid winter behind us, we know that you want to enjoy your springtime in Akron. But you’re probably wondering what you can do to keep busy in our great city. Fortunately, we’ve scouted out the local events in Akron and came up with some winning ways that you can enjoy yourself this spring:
Who’s Bad: The Ultimate Michael Jackson Tribute Band
Date: Saturday, May 17th, 2014
Time: 8 p.m.
Location: Akron Civic Theatre
This high-octane musical must-see is an extraordinary tribute to the King of Pop. With inspired dance performances and stunning vocals, this is a can’t-miss show for those who love Jackson’s catalogue of music.
Walk with Love
Date: Sunday, May 18th, 2014
Time: 1-5 p.m.
Location: Lock 3
Join fellow Akronites in a walk to find the cause of breast cancer. The Walk with Love is a 2-mile walk from Lock 3 to Mustill Store and back. Proceeds benefit the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation. This is a fun event that the entire family can participate in, and on-site registration is available. With free polarity yoga, several food trucks, and live music, this event is sure to be lots of fun!
Akron RubberDucks
Date: Friday, May 30th, 2014
Time: 6:35 p.m.
Location: Canal Park Stadium
If sports are more your speed, check out the Akron RubberDucks, a Class AA affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. This baseball game offers up a very special evening with a spectacular fireworks display that is set to all of your favorite Motown hits.
Downtown Akron Artwalk
Date: Saturday, June 7th, 2014
Time: 5-10 p.m.
Location: Downtown
The award-winning Akron Artwalk features local art and live music at galleries located in the Northside District, North High Street, East & West Market Street, and Main Street. There’s a lot to do and see with approximately 2 dozen participants offering art, shopping, and dining experiences. And conveniently enough, Akron’s free trolley stops along the entire route, making it very easy to travel between locations. Held on the first Saturday of each month, you can find out more at the Downtown Akron Partnership website.
