Italian Restaurant

Got the munchies and don’t know where to go for dinner? Whether you’re looking for fine dining or local hole-in-the-walls, we’ve got the 411 on great places to eat in Akron. Presenting our staff’s favorite Akron restaurants…ta-da!

Fleming’s

If you love steak—or partaking in the occasional glass of red wine—Fleming’s is the restaurant for you. Voted one of the Top 5 Restaurants by Fox 8 Cleveland, Fleming’s offers deliciously prepared steak paired with such indulgences as truffle-poached lobster and king crab topped with caviar. Farrah gives a shout-out to the potatoes, adding that they’re, “…just cheesy, bubbly, gooey goodness.”

The Lockview

Satisfy your craving for mom’s grilled cheese but take it upscale at The Lockview. Known for its gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, The Lockview also offers an extensive wine selection and 160+ imported beers. It’s also popular for its rooftop patio, the only one of its kind in the city. But don’t just go for the view–Heather claims The Lockview makes “the best grilled cheese in town.”

Louie’s

This old-time pub in North Hill offers the ambience of your typical hole-in-the-wall. Renowned for its big, juicy, 1/2-pound burgers, this Akron establishment is considered a must-visit. Sally enjoys its food and gives a thumbs-up to Louie’s cool ‘old-school’ bartender.

Don Tequila’s

If Mexican is your thing, Stacy recommends Don Tequila’s. The Mexican food is authentic, and the chips and salsa are to die for. Not only is this a great place to take the little ones, but it also makes a great date spot if you enjoy wasting away in Margaritaville.

Outback Steakhouse

This national chain is known for its thick steaks and generous portions. But, they don’t just offer steaks—you can also stop in for ribs, chicken, seafood, and pasta. The appetizers are a hit too—this is where the ever-popular Bloomin’ Onion reached its national prominence. And the bread?  “Awesome,” Teresa says.

Angel Falls Coffee

If going without your java gives you withdrawal jitters, check out Angel Falls Coffee. Lindsay loves their amazing flavored coffee, and patrons enjoy its cozy atmosphere. Vegetarians will also be thrilled with their various vegan food options.

Bonefish

For seafood lovers, Debbie recommends Bonefish Grill. Their fresh fish and tasty appetizers get rave reviews. In particular, their signature bang-bang shrimp—crispy shrimp tossed in a sweet, spicy sauce—is a perennial crowd pleaser.

Cilantro

Located in downtown Akron, Cilantro offers flavorful sushi, Thai, and Japanese food. For finicky eaters, the menu is diverse and has vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. Renee enjoys its pleasant ambience and recommends you try their sushi.

Luigi’s

An Akron staple, Luigi’s Italian Restaurant has been around for 60 years. Often packed on evenings and weekends, Luigi’s is known for its famous pizza and homemade Italian dressing. The nostalgic environment is one reason Stephanie loves to gather here with her family.

Although not known nationally for its dining scene, Akron obviously houses a few culinary gems. We recommend that if you haven’t tried these establishments already, you check them out. And if you have a local favorite we missed, you can give us the 411 at your next appointment!
